My Thoughts
Whatever this was- it should be a genre.  Time Curse wasn't old English steampunk; nor was it "grungy",  it just had its own "dark London" feel to it.
Since I'm partially re-reading this novel, not all of my feelings are as fresh as they would have been, but I'll try my best to review.
Timecurse ( as stated in the blurb) is about The Darkside's time in turmoil. The current ruler of  Darkside, (Thomas Ripper ) has just died of old age, which is the cue for a century old tradition called the "blood succession ". Two Ripper children,  forced to battle it out, in a take-no-prisoners Battle to determine the next heir to the throne. Sounds awesome right? Well it is!
The fate of Darkside it literally hanging on the outcome of this epic battle. Except.. Well… the twist.
There is a reason why Tom Becker decided to name this novel TimeCurse. That’s all I'm going to say! *carefully creeps back into the shadows*
Besides; there were other things! Like the cool ending  where we find out that SPOILER: Jonathan's mother is ALIVE!" END OF SPOILER.
Rating: 3.9
