E-Interview: Shayne Leighton The Author behind of Light and Darkness

Recently I have got the chance to have an E-mail Interview with the brand-new author, Shayne Leighton! Here's how it all played out.
How do your experiences in acting and artistry help you towards writing your book? I love all forms of storytelling and all form of art. All of the different mediums that I am involved in come together so different, but they help inspire the other facets of career. When I write my books, I see them play out in my head like a movie. Everything in my mind's eye is super cinematic - and I think that adds to my writing.

Do you model some of your characters after people you actually know? All of them are modeled after people I know! Haha. I love when my friends read my stories and tell me that a certain character reminds them of themselves. Most of the characters in Of Light and Darkness are at least fragments of real people I know and am close to.

Was of light and darkness influenced by any myths/Legends? A major influence for Of Light and Darkness was Anne Rice. I really like her vampire mythos. I think her idea of the vampire makes the most sense. And also the classic Dracula mythologies and a lot of Greek and Czech/Russian mythologies as well.

What made you decide to write of light and darkness? I love fantasy. I had a dream that I was walking through a dark, haunted-looking city. I was actually in the shoes of my heroine, Charlotte. I woke up and decided I wanted to write this story and thereby was inspired to transform my own reality and people I know into a fantasy.

Are you planning a second book after of light and darkness, if so what will it be about? Yes - the Of Light and Darkness series will be a series of seven books. The second book, The Vampire's Reflection, will be released in about a month - give or take a couple of weeks.

When will of light and darkness the movie be released?
Candace Charee and I are working hard to bring the film project from the development stages to the production stages. As soon as we have a release date, we will announce it on our official websites.

When you were a teen, what books did you read? I was introduced to Anne Rice's, The Vampire Chronicles, at an early age by a dear friend. From there I delve into the Twilight Saga, Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith, and The Mortal Instrument Series.

Outside of writing, what are your hobbies? Recording music, and filmmaking. It's all about my art. It's my entire life.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers? No matter how many rejections you get, believe in yourself and in your story. You will always find the right home for it. People will most definitely love it if you love it!

Thanks for the Interview, anything else you want to say? (Book promo’s etc…) I hope people check out the official websites.www.OfLightandDarknessSeries.com and http://www.facebook.com/OfLightAndDarknessSeries
