My Thoughts:

See what is says up there? Up on my review policy? NO ROMANCE BOOKS. However in the interest of broadening my horizons, I decided to request a semi-romancy book from Raincoast. So thank you to them, for giving me this awesome ARC. And no, I was not given any compensation in exchange for this review. Now my thoughts!

Resistance was arguably among one of the most amusing dystopias I've read this year. What made it different? Well, for one it didn't go chasing after The Hunger Games's heels. Jenna Black did her own thing -  a more lighthearted rebellion story - and it worked. 

From the beginning, Nate and Nadia were up against tremendous odds, something that would make a regular 17-21 year old quiver in his/her boots. I felt their reactions, complicated relationship, and partner dynamic were believable. What I didn't find believable, was their lack of any physical injury, despite the people around them being shot, killed, etc. Though this is a minor issue, it nagged on my conscious.

Speaking of injury, I'm very glad the action bits didn't consume Resistance, pushing all other aspects of the novel aside. Dante, Kurt, Nadia, Angie were all good characters, and each of them were given their own chance to shine. There is almost a character for everyone within these white pages, seeing that Paxco/Debasement modestly displayed a diversity of personalities and sexualities.

Although some specific sections of Resistance are sketchy, overall, I was entertained. The Chairman was badass, in his own cruel/flawed way, and that ending. DAT ENDING. I will say no more. :>
